A quiet, orderly pullback that still hit its stop

Pro Trader Strategies · The Pullback Playbook

Hi ~Contact.FirstName~,

Here is a real example from Lesson 2.2 of the Pullback Playbook.

A common idea is that pullbacks on quiet volume are healthier, because fewer people are rushing to sell. We measured volume during the pullback for four real charts. Lockheed Martin had very quiet volume and still hit its stop. KLA had heavier volume and also hit its stop. Lam Research and Coca-Cola both returned to their prior highs, one on near-normal volume, one on heavier volume.

The lesson is not that volume does not matter. It is that no single clue decides the outcome, which is why the plan always includes a stop, and why you decide where you are wrong before you are in the trade.

The Starter Class gives you the first piece of that: three lessons on how to read trend, and the three-question checklist. $29, one time.

P.S. Examples like these were chosen to teach, not as a fair sample. They are not a forecast.

Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain inherent limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading and may not be impacted by brokerage and other slippage fees. Also, since the trades have not actually been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown.

CFTC RULE 4.41

HYPOTHETICAL OR SIMULATED PERFORMANCE RESULTS HAVE CERTAIN LIMITATIONS. UNLIKE AN ACTUAL PERFORMANCE RECORD, SIMULATED RESULTS DO NOT REPRESENT ACTUAL TRADING. ALSO, SINCE THE TRADES HAVE NOT BEEN EXECUTED, THE RESULTS MAY HAVE UNDER-OR-OVER COMPENSATED FOR THE IMPACT, IF ANY, OF CERTAIN MARKET FACTORS, SUCH AS LACK OF LIQUIDITY. SIMULATED TRADING PROGRAMS IN GENERAL ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DESIGNED WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT. NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFIT OR LOSSES SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN.

No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown. In fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. Hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk in actual trading.
